Issues with USB ports, Bluetooth and camera disconnecting. Driver issues?

Hi! I've been having increasingly more frustrating issues with my laptop recently. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 Laptop - Type 81W1 that is having problems with its USB ports. I suspect this to be a driver issue due to the fact that in device manager it states "Unknown USB Device Descriptor Request Failed". I have attached an image below displaying the text. Connected I have my Logitech mouse, and 2 external USB Drivers SanDisk. I know the problems aren't the devices themselves because they will be functional 50% of the time, and then randomly disconnect. I know my mouse is not the pro

    2. Select Troubleshoot. Look for Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and run it.
    3. Follow the on-screen direction to complete the process and if required please apply the fix it.
    4. Once it is done, please reboot the computer and check the status.

Step 2: Suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers on the PC to check if that helps.

    1. Press ‘Windows + R’ keys, type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run window and press Enter.
    2. In Device Manager, expand "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
    3. Right click a device under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and click uninstall.
    4. Perform same step for other devices. When completed, restart the computer.

  4. Issues with USB ports, Bluetooth and camera disconnecting. Driver issues?

How can I bind a USB port to a specific USB Camera

The issue you're experiencing with Windows 11 randomly reassigning USB devices, including cameras, to different ports after reboots or updates can be quite frustrating. To address this problem and ensure a more stable device assignment, you can try the following steps:

    1. Disable Automatic Driver Updates:
      • Windows updates often include driver updates that can sometimes cause changes in device assignments. You can try disabling automatic driver updates by following these steps:
        • Go to "Settings" > "Windows Update."
        • Click on "Advanced options."
        • Under "Driver updates," select "Only drivers." This will prevent Windows from automatically updating drivers.
    2. Assign Static Drive Letters:
      • For USB devices, including cameras, you can manually assign a specific drive letter to them. This way, Windows will always recognize the device as connected to that particular port. Here's how:
        • Connect your USB cameras.
        • Open "Disk Management" by searching for it in the Start menu.
        • Find your USB cameras in the list.
        • Right-click on each camera's drive and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths."
        • Assign a specific, unused drive letter (e.g., E:, F:, GIssues with USB ports, Bluetooth and camera disconnecting. Driver issues? :).
        • Click "OK."
    3. Use USB Hubs:
      • Consider using powered USB hubs for your cameras. This can help ensure that the devices remain connected to the same ports on the hub even if Windows reassigns the internal USB ports. A powered hub can also provide more stable power to the devices.
    4. USB Port Labeling:
      • Physically label the USB ports and the corresponding cameras. While this won't prevent Windows from reassigning, it will make it easier to reconfigure the monitoring software after each reboot.
    5. Group Policy and Device Installation Restrictions:
      • If you have access to Group Policy settings, you can configure policies to control how devices are installed and managed. This may provide more control over USB device assignments.
    6. Third-Party Software:
      • Consider using third-party software or utilities designed to manage and maintain consistent device assignments. These tools may help you create and enforce specific device-to-port mappings.
    7. Feedback to Microsoft:
      • Provide feedback to Microsoft about this issue. They may address it in future updates if it affects a significant number of users.
Please note that modifying the Windows registry can be risky, and it's generally recommended to avoid making changes unless you're confident in what you're doing. Additionally, Windows updates and changes in behavior can sometimes override registry modifications.
