Windows 10: Issues with Windows 10

I have Windows 10, v. 1803 OS BUILD (17134.345). Computer was assembled by me: CPU Intel i5 7400; Corsair 16gb Memory (2x8gb); motherboard: ASUS Prime Z270-K latest Bios version 0610; 240GB SSD SATA6 running the OS; 2 HDD x 3TB Toshiba; 2 ext. USB3 HDD for backup (1x5TB, 1x8TB) both Seagate; 1 USB2 HGST HDDx3TB Sata6 running in HDD Dock; 1xBluRay Pioneer Optical drive.


About a month ago, I found that the Microsoft Solitaire Collection would not execute: Splash screed displays appx. 5 seconds then goes back to desktop. After that I noticed several other programs would do the same thing, the most serious being my Office 365 programs resident on the computer: same symptoms as Solitaire. Several other programs failed to load completely as well. I attempted to run the Troubleshooter but mirrored the Office 365 programs. I downloaded MCT, placed the ".iso" file on a 32GB Flash Drive and booted from it by selecting the drive in the BIOS. The computer ran through POST (I saw the external discs lights flashing) then the screen would go dark and the computer would freeze. I also tried to boot the iso file from a DVD and the same issue occurred as with the Flash drive.


There is no way I can discover how to replace the OS, boot into Safe Mode, boot from flash drive or DVD. I am at a loss; does anyone know a remedy to my problem?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP
