I have the same annoying issue several people have with Windows 10 switching the default audio device to what it chooses.

I've shuffled through the posts and fixes from several people but they're all temporary.

Is it so hard to code in Windows to maintain the damn audio settings to what we have them set to be?!

I have 3 monitors on 2 on display ports and 1 on HDMI and I'm sick and tired having to go to device manager every time I have a Gfx card update and disable devices every now and then, so that Windows doesn't switch my audio outputs to what I haven't set them to be!

Also, my Desktop computer is an Audio workstation, and windows repeatedly keeps making my audio interface the default device resulting in it not being available for my DAW software....I have to go to settings....switch devices so that windows routes audio back to the realtek driver and device, then use my hardware as I should.

This happened just now...again....and I'm seriously fed up with this issue.

Seriously now, can't people over there at microsoft fix this? It's been going on for years now.

I've been a Windows fanboy for years Vs @pple, but lately I've started considering jumping ship due to issues like this, minor yes, but many minor issues make for a big one, namely the OS.

Windows has to stop resetting how we've configured our system to be, there's a reason we do it and it affects our work.

    :)

To understand the issue better, I would like to know what is the make and model of the computer?

I appreciate the steps you have perform, let’s try simple methods and check if this helps.

    Method 1.

I would suggest you to run sound audio troubleshooter, it will automatically detect the problem and fix it. Follow the below method.

    • Click on View by: category and click on
      Small icon.

    Method 2.

I suggest you to update the audio driver and check.

      Device manager
      .

      update the software.
If the issue still persist, I recommend you to go to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest updated sound adapter for Windows 10 and install the same. If the available driver is not for Windows 10 try installing the
    driver in compatibility mode.

    • Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

    • Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.
