Windows 10: It says no audio device is installed when I plug in my c920 logitech camera

It says no audio device is installed when I plug in my c920 logitech camera. This just happened recently. They used to work well together before.

Logitech c920s not working

I just received a Logitech C920S camera (December 25, 2021). It seemed to me that the camera would not work. Permissions were already granted on my computer. I plugged the camera into different USB ports. I restarted my computer with the camera connected and disconnected. I checked to ensure that my computer had registered that the camera had been connected. None of these things worked.

Finally, I went to the Logitech website, thinking that perhaps I needed to download the software for the camera. That was the answer. The camera does not download or install any software to your system when you connect it, so it is not plug and play. Connect the camera, go to the Logitech website and download the appropriate software program. For the C920s, the proper software is the Logitech Capture. I hope sharing this experience helps someone resolve their camera issue.

Yes it does, but the setting appears o.k.



But why does it say last access 3 days ago when I've been messing with it today?

This is the program folder. Where is the actual app to include in the permissions list?

I have added Skype to the list and now that works, but the camera app will still not record video, and Capture will not open

Thanks for all your help so far. I’m going to take a step back from this and start again.

I’ve had my present machine since March 2018.
The Windows version is 10.0.19041.488 and it’s had Bitdefender from Day 1.

The webcam has always worked happily as a plug-and-play device without me having to download anything, and as recently as April this year it was still doing so.

A few days ago I went to use it and discovered the problem I’ve been describing – that I can take stills but not record video. Except once! Then it failed again before I could discover what made it work.

Therefore I am going to suggest to myself that I should try a system restore if I can find a suitable point to go back to.

Well that's not going to work, as there are no restore points. On previous machines I've had restore points were set automatically if you made changes such as installing new software, but it appears this one is not set up that way.

So what next? I do have a backup on a memory stick that was supplied with the machine.

 

Logitech c920 and Camera app

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my Logitech c920 and the Camera app. The camera works with the Logitech software, and the Camera app also works. However, the Camera app doesn't seem to be able to find the camera. Instead, it uses the camera that's built in to
my laptop.

This just started two weeks or so ago after several months of flawless performance, so I'm very confused. I've already checked the drivers, and they're up to date. Not sure what else the problem could be.
