    Since the release of Windows 10 Creator's Update, Microsoft introduced a subtle but (at least for me) very annoying feature when you're using List View in any of your folders:

    Now the blue item select rectangular box It occupies the entire size of the column in which the file is, when before the release of Creator's Update it only occupied the size of the file name. This is very annoying to me because I continually do "missclicks" and inadvertently clicking on a file. Is there any way to change this by modifying the registry or some other way?

    I just tested this and it does work. Also, you can make the changes and choose to apply to folders of this type. Then all of the subfolders will be set to that view (even in the legacy dialog).

    The only drawback to that is the subfolders files will not span across the page like in list view. So, the decision would be which is more important, to have the select all checkbox applicable or see more files across the page.

    Again, I would like to thank both you and Shawn. You have given me more choices than I knew were available.

    Select all check box in list view

    I think it's always been this way (the select-all box only shows in details view). But you're not out of luck. Here's what I'd do:

    Go to the 'Home' tab at the top of Explorer. Find the "select all" button. Right-click and choose "add to quick access". Now you have a 1-click "select all" button at the top toolbar (title bar).

    So it's not exactly in the same spot, but it serves the function. And this little customization wasn't possible in Windows 7.

    Not exactly sure what you mean, however I have the view set to both "list" and "details" and I get this

    This is called "full row select".

    Unfortunately, the methods to disable auto arrange and full row select no longer work starting with Windows 10 Creators Update. Hopefully it will be possible in a future version of Windows 10.

    I have just now found a solution for this problem which cropped up with 1703.
    Download Ultimate WindowsTweaker for Win 10 at:
    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultima...r-4-windows-10
    Then proceed to Customization, File Explorer Tab and select "Disable" on feature "full row select"
    Works in 1709 where tweaker "FolderOptionsX" is unable to change setting

    Regarding my post on Ultimate windows tweaker, I have noticed yesterday an unexpected problem.
    If you disactivate "full row select", then you cannot get the usual view in: My PC, view tab, mosaics which normally should show on multiple columns the "loading bar" of all drives.
    Instead, you just get a single column with no other information than the name and letter of the drive.
    This problem does not exist with QTtabBar.*Biggrin

    NB: Sorry if I don't use the exact english term when quoting a tab, a menu name or a command, but my Computer is in French of course*Confused
