Windows 10: iTunes iPad sync blocked by Malwarebytes - some info

Greetings all,
I thought this might save someone else some hair loss. *Smile
I had considerable problems today trying to get iTunes (v12.10.3.1) to sync my kids iPad; it was saying "This iPad has never been backed up on this computer" and the storage bargraph didn't show a breakdown of the iPad storage contents. (If you've seen iTunes in action, this will be familiar.) The "Backup Now" button was greyed out, as was the "Encrypt Local Backup" checkbox.
Tried a new iPad cable, restarting everything, repair installing iTunes, then I remembered that I'm trialling Malwarebytes Premium. *Think
(Thanks to the Malwarebytes forum post "iTunes says 'Bonjour' to Ransomware as attackers exploit Zero-Day" by "exile360", whoever you are. *Smile )
On MWB, add an exception for this folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support" and exclude from ransomware detection only.
On my system at least, this seems to have got iTunes sync working.
(I don't like excluding the whole folder; if I can figure out which files, aside from ATH.exe and ATH_main.dll, I'll post back here.)
(And, Malwarebytes seems to be fine, I just had to learn how to use it. *Wink )

Ipad 2 Sync To Itunes

We replaced our battery in my Ipad 2, and now it will not shut off so I can't do the steps I need to do. It states connect to ITunes, but I have never synced the Ipad to iTunes., so it can't find it. I went though the steps to perform the Program Data,
but after reading about it I'm not so sure I want to do this., it states you should never perform this action. How can I get it synced to ITunes now?

First of all I would like to know that if you're trying to sync your Apple iPad to iTunes or your PC?

And also, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• Open iTunes.

• Plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod into your computer using a Lightning cable.

• Click on the Device Tab at the top of iTunes to make sure you're viewing your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

• Click each tab on the left pane for Music, Movies, TV Shows, and Photos.

• Click to enable or disable sync of media types, and pick what to sync. This can be as specific as certain artists, latest shows, or specific file folders. Criteria vary by media type.

• Click the Sync button at the bottom when you're finished.

iPad/iPod not recognized in iTunes/Windows 10

I have an iPad 3 and a 4th Gen iPod, neither of which will show up in iTunes on Windows 10 Anniversary Update. I've tried two different sync cables and 3 different USB ports, and I've re-installed iTunes. Apple Mobile Device Service, Bonjour Service, iPod Service all running, but iTunes does not open automatically when I connect a device.

Both of these devices spend most of their time in very specific roles (iPad sits in a kiosk as a print-release station for a copier, the iPod connects to our PBX via the headphone jack for music on hold — long story there) and only rarely come back to my desk to sync. Both synced without issue about 4 1/2 months ago. I am able to use Windows Explorer to browse the pictures stored on both devices as if they were digital cameras (the iPad prompts me to Allow this first) and they both show up in the "Portable Devices" category in Device Manager with reasonable names.

Any ideas?
