Windows 10: i've always had my mic working normally on my pc, and then for some reason it stopped...

could anybody help me plz?? *Moved from Microsoft 365 Insider / Install, upgrade and activate / Windows*

USB Mic Problems.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

 

Internal mic stopped working for no (apparent) reason

I have only an internal (built-in) mic for my HP compaq 610 laptop.

I rarely use the mic, but then the other day I installed a Cortana update which enabled it for use in the UK.


That day the mic worked -- to speak to Cortana, etc.

The next day or so, I noticed that Cortana could not hear me. Nor could skype, ok google or anything else. The mic just stopped working for no reason.

(I think it was during this period that I installed Office 2010. (but: "so what", right?))

I uninstalled what is called on my PC as "High Definition Audio Device". I rebooted PC, windows apparently reinstalled the device, because it was listed as being present and working again -- but it does not work.

I installed an audio drive from HP, so now two new devices are shown:

Internal mic: IDT high def audio; and

Rec. Playback: IDT high def audio.

- The internal mic is now set as the default.

- The mic is not muted.

- Using MS's "Set Up the Mic" does nothing, it cannot hear me

- Troubleshooting "Recording Audio" cannot find a solution

UPDATE: I reset my computer a week back in time. When it restarted --
the mic still did not work. I gave up then and left it. Now, this morning, I open windows and:
the mic works! Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. How can that be????!!!!!

 

Razer Kraken MIC stopped working ? *resolved*

Hello,

My nephew has a Razer Kraken Pro that suddenly stopped working the other day. I tried it on my PC , and i confirmed for whatever reason it wouldnt work, so i initiated an RMA and was approved. Today, He told me that the Mic works in XboxOne?! which leads me to believe that some M$ crapdate broke the Mic's functionality. It is defintely not broken physically, and now that i know it works in Xboxone, I realized that I too have win10, and that might likely be the reason it wouldnt work on My PC either. Anyone have any idea what might be the cause/culprit? Or what resolution i can attempt to resolve this crap (im aware of rolling back updates, im looking for a different option hopefully).

worked 1 day, the next it didnt (im guessing due to updates)
Just to be clear the headset itself works fine only the microphones functionality is not working in the windows 10 environment

any help would be appreciated.
