Windows 10: I've always used the PIN option to log into my computer. Now it says "something happened...

I've always used the PIN option to log into my computer. Now it says "something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again." I click and nothing happens. And I don't remember my password for to log in. What should I do?

Log-in Pin is incorrect after Anniversary update


I had the same issue after my update on Windows 10. I knew that my pin hadn't changed but it was saying it was incorrect. So I said that I forgot my pin and it started going through the steps to reset the pin entered my regular password and when the window popped up to set a new pin I said cancel and then I chose the option to set my pin later. I exited the screen, logged off logged back in, and set up a new pin which happened to be the same pin I had before and it worked. If this still doesn't work I can show step by step screen shots if you need. I have a surface 3 with Windows 10 fully updated 10.0.14393.0

  From your
  lockscreen, check if the "Sign-in option" is available.
  
• 
  Then click the option to use PIN.
  
• 
  Enter PIN.
  
  

If that didn't work, we highly suggest that you create a new account/PIN that you can use to log in to your computer.

How to log in using PIN without pressing ENTER?

There several reasons that may cause the issue. We suggest you check the setting on your computer by following these steps to help us in resolving the issue:

• From the Start menu, click Settings or the gear icon.
  
• Go to Account settings.
• Click the Sign-in options.
• Make sure that Password option is disabled or removed for you to use only the PIN without you hitting the Enter key.
