I've changed my password on the account.live website but this has not solved the problem. I still cannot login to my desktop PC. Is there a solution to this problem?

Before we proceed, I would like you to provide the information stated below:

1. Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed in your computer?

2. Are you using a Microsoft Account to log into your computer?

To open System Properties and check the version of Windows, follow the steps below:

1. Open Run Command (Windows button+R).

2. In the dialog box type control system and hit enter.

If you are using a Microsoft Account to log into your system and you are unable to change the password, then I would suggest that you sign in online and change your password. Follow the steps below to do so.

• 1. Click on the link below to open the Microsoft site, and then select
  Security & privacy.

Microsoft account | Sign In or Create Your Account Today – Microsoft

• Select Change password.
• 
  Enter your current password, then the new password you want, then enter the new password again.

  Select Save.

Outlook email fails to sync after changing password on Live account

I tried all of those suggestions (some several times and in various orders) but none of them were successful. According to the Live status page there are no issues with Outlook.com.

For the time being this is more of an annoyance than anything else since I can get to the website on my phone to log in. But doing that is going to get old very quickly.

I guess I could backup my data and do a factory reset. I had to do that several weeks ago after migrating my old Xbox Live account to my Live account. I have a hard time believing that Microsoft would require such drastic steps after just changing the
password (especially there is a check box on the Live page to force a change every 72 days).

I appreciate your help up to now. Any other suggestions?

You're right....old quickly is an understatement. I can tell ya, this is not the way its supposed to run. I just tried to change my password and did so with no problem. I got a message on the phone to check my password on email sync and changed ...no problem.
Now it runs with no problem.



So, at best, a glitch ...maybe....for me,....if I'm thinking glitch, I'm thinking reset. If it happens again....I'm off to a new phone.....glitches happen once in a while....more than once...in a row....that means broke to me...
