Windows 10: I've excluded my Downloads folder from search, why files in that folder still appearing in...

Has anyone else encountered this? I've done the: Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows > Add an excluded folder and added my downloads folder as an excluded folder so files wouldn't appear in searches. But if you click the windows icon in the task bar i can still clearly see files that are in my downloads folder being recommended to me. If i open up their folder location it's in my downloads folder which I've excluded from searches. Is this a known issue?

Excluding folders in Windows Search

Hi,

I'd like to set Windows Search so that the search only searches within the user's C:\Users folder. Alternatively, I'd be happy if the Search searched the whole PC, but excluded the ability to search within other users' folders.

I tried setting the Find My Files setting to Enhanced and added everyone else's User folder to the excluded list. However, exactly the same excluded folder list appears within each user's own Windows, which is clearly not what I need. Each user needs a different set of folders excluded from Search. I just can't figure out how to do this.

Is anyone able to help please?

Exclude folders from McAfee real-time protection/scans

I want to exclude a set of folders from McAfee, as I have done with every other antivirus software I've used, but it seems that you can only exclude individual files and not entire folders. Does anyone know of a way to exclude folders? My Google searches only show results for VirusScan Enterprise, which I don't have.

 

File History won't exclude folders

I just tried to exclude C:\Users\Donny\Downloads using the legacy control panel File History interface. When I clicked "Select Folder" the folder was added to the excluded folders list. When I clicked "Save changes" and went back into the excluded folders
list, C:\Users\Donny\Downloads was not listed at all.

So certainly not fixed for me.
