I’ve never set up a bitlocker recovery on my personal Microsoft surface go. That being said, after some time of not using it the need for a recovery key has taken over my login screen and I haven’t been able to access anything on my computer without this key that I never set up. From entries I’ve seen, other people have had this same issue and all that has been said is that you basically can no longer access your computer. How is this possible since I paid for the unit and should be able to access my personal computer? This is both insane to have to accept and ridiculous. How can you be locked

The system might be rejecting the incorrect BitLocker recovery key. Check this
article for tips to find your BitLocker recovery key. If you want to reset your Surface device, I would
suggest trying the refresh option first. Refreshing your Surface reinstalls Windows and keeps your personal files, settings, apps that came installed on your Surface, and apps that you installed from Microsoft Store. Here are the steps:

1. Follow the instructions on this link to download a recovery image for your Surface device.
2. Shut down your Surface and plug it in so you don’t run out of power during the refresh.
3. Insert the USB recovery drive into the USB port.
4. Press and hold the volume-down button while you press and release the power button. When the Surface logo appears, release the volume-down button.
5. When prompted, select the language and keyboard layout you want.
6. Select Troubleshoot > Refresh your PC, and select the operating system you want to refresh.
7. On the Refresh your PC screen, select Next >
   Refresh.
8. Surface restarts and the Surface logo appears during the refresh process (this can take several minutes).

• Did you notice any changes on the computer recently?
  
• When you say, you have a problem with your Surface machine about BitLocker key, do you mean that the surface machine asks you to enter the BitLocker key to allow you to sign into Windows?
  
• Does the other computer ask you to enter the BitLocker key to allow you to access the files saved on it?

How to save my BitLocker recovery key to my personal Microsoft account, when there is a domain account connected?

I want to encrypt some personal hard drives with BitLocker on Windows 10, and save the recovery keys to my personal Microsoft account, which is the one I connect to Windows with.

The problem is that I have also connected my university's domain account, and BitLocker will only let me save the key to this uni account : the "Save to Microsoft account" option in the BitLocker setup window has been replaced with "Save to your cloud domain account", and when I select this, the key doesn't appear in my Microsoft account's recovery keys list, which I assume means that the key has been sent to my uni's network instead.

These keys are for personal drives and I want to save them to my personal account. I don't want to remove the domain account entirely as it's convenient. How can I choose which account to save the BitLocker recovery keys to ?
