Windows 10: I've noticed a odd crash after the computer crashes called 'atherossvc'. Is this a virus?

Hello. My computer just today completely shut down. No 'app closing' just suddenly shutted down without warning. Thankfully I was able to reboot it. However I noticed a odd program called 'atherossvc' appearing in the process. I've looked it up and heard conflicting reports. Some say it is a Trojan. Some sites say it's not. If anyone knows what it is. Please let me know. Oh and it was connected to 'adminservice' if I recall which the admin service was located in system 32 if I recall

Odd Crash from Games

Hey,

A mate of mine seems to be getting some odd crashes. The computer boots to Windows fine and stable, but then abit into playing games, it crashes to a black screen with looped sound.

The CPU is at stock, and the cooling is really good.

Spec:
E7200
P5K Premium Black Pearl
4 x 1GB Kingston
Samsung 500GB Green
XFX 9800GTX

I'm going to be out, so i can't reply, but he'll be reading this topic, so can you just post suggestions.

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Is AtherosSvc Safe?

I have been looking through my services and noticed a service called "AtherosSvc" which has no description. It struck me as odd, as it is one of 10 services with no description, however all the others I know exactly what they are and what they do from their name. I did a quick google search and found that some sites called it a trojan, others said it was safe, and yet others said it was required for windows to function properly.

I am looking to know if AtherosSvc is safe and if it is, what does it do?
