Is it true that from 2018 Windows Updates will only be released twice a year?

when I do a ctrl,alt,del and lock the devices then go back and log back in it has logged you off instead of taking you back to your normal desktop

We actually just found the solution to this, it was one of the KB updates that seem to be breaking many things the update was KB3124266:

This security update for Windows 10 includes improvements in the functionality of Windows 10 and resolves the following vulnerabilities in Windows:

• 3124605 MS16-008: Security Update for Windows kernel to address elevation of privilege: January 12, 2016
• 3124901 MS16-007: Security Update for Windows to address remote code execution: January 12, 2016
• 3124584 MS16-005: Security Update for Windows kernel-mode drivers to address remote code execution: January 12, 2016
• 3124904 MS16-002: Cumulative security update for Microsoft Edge: January 12, 2016
• 3124275 MS16-001: Security update for Internet Explorer: January 12, 2016
• 3118753 Microsoft security advisory: Updates for ActiveX kill bits

Windows 10 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously released fixes. If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer.

 

I have 5 installs of "Redistributable Package (KB3119142)" no problem just weird, anyone else ?

I've got two successful installs and Windows still wants to install it.

 

Absolutely no problem with January 2016 security update!
Did first one Windows 10 Prof on Hyper-V then 5 desktops later yesterday. This morning we finished with 4 laptops.

 

Security updates installed on 1511-10586.63 and Insider 11082. Guess I'm safe now. *Smile

 

Same here. Also, Windows Update still wants to install it over and over whenever I check for new updates. That's the case for my notebook, no such issue on my desktop though.

 

Installed and my computer was stuck on don't turn off PC well after 20 minutes I turned it off and then on restart it installed.

 

I've solved this by repairing the updates in Programs and Features. Followed these steps mentioned here: KB3119142 Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 bereitet Probleme | Deskmodder.de (Google Translate is your friend.)

 

my laptop installed it with no problems. kinda thought it was going to be an exciting new build though...
