Windows 10: japanese ime not showing in taskbar or systems tray - Windows 10

This might have happened when I moved the taskbar or the systems tray to vertical rather than horizontal. But it's back now in horizontal and even after messing with the IME settings in Language Settings, I can't get it the IME thing that lets me switche from English to Japanese to reappear. What I'm missing is the thing in the far right side of the taskbar or systems tray next to the clock that either shows ENG or a white J inside a dark circle inside a white box. It's gone away and I can't figure out how to get it back.Thank you.

I have no idea what [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters] is.

I am using the US Windows 10 and US keyboard.

Want English language system with Japanese IME keyboard

Hi Divya,

while trying the method as you suggested, I could choose English as the display language,

but then when I am trying to add the input method, it does not show Microsoft IME as an option in the list.

at best I can only see/choose Japanese keyboard, but then the layout is different.

I am using a Toshiba dynabook KIRA, and my base OS is Japanese windows 8.1 which I upgraded to win 10.
