    Hi everyone,


    I use Windows 10 and have recently installed the japanese keyboard on my computer. After a few struggles I managed to be able to use it I had to click on 'using the former version of Microsoft IME' to be able to actually type in hiragana & katakana, but now, a new problem has arised.


    I cannot seem to be able to write kanji. When I write a combination of hiragana and then press the spacebar, which should then show me a selection of corresponding kanji, I only get the katakana alternative.


    When I go into the advanced settings for Microsoft IME, and into the 'Dictionary/Auto-tuning' folder, I don't have anything in the 'System dictionaries' box, and when I browse in my 'Custom dictionary', I only have a imjp15cu file.


    I wonder if that's part of the problem? Like would I need to have some kind of kanji dictionary for my computer to be able to convert the hiragana/katakana I type into the corresponding kanji?


    I cannot seem to find how to download or add a dictionary though...

    I'm using Windows 10 Enterprise.

    The language pack was installed with the keyboard when I installed it in the settings. I don't know if that answers your question, sorry.

    It's the regular keyboard that you can install in the language settings. After I have switched to the Japanese keyboards it shows me a preview or selection of possible kanji for the word that I have typed. Pressing space converts it into Kanji (starting
    from the top one in the list of possible kanji). I did not install anything beside the keyboard.

    (Edit: I got it to work when I removed Japanese and then added it again, but the latter problem still remains.)

    Hello! I got myself a new laptop (ThinkPad) with Windows 10, and suddenly I can't write Japanese anymore. The conversion from hiragana to kanji isn't working, it only gives me either hiragana or katakana but no kanji to choose from at all. Also,
    when I changed to Japanese keyboard, the option to switch to other keyboards also vanished (I have to log out before I get the language bar back).

    Whenever I use the Microsoft Japanese IME keyboard, it has a little text window where it offers suggestions for what kanji to use. I'd like to turn it off, because I need to study the words in hiragana. Any advice would be great.
