Windows 10: Japanese Windows Storage Server 2016 on a TeraStation WS5420RNG - can't change Display...

Hello,Have I been mistakenly under the impression, that Microsoft's OS's are nowadays multi-lingual ?I recently bought a "Buffalo Terastation WS5420 RN6" which came preinstalled with Windows Storage Server 2016.... in Japanese. The same device is available in the US, etc.I've been trying to convert it to English but to no avail. All the "Standard" published approaches simply fail, as Japanese remains to be the default and only Display language. Is there any way to fix this situation ?

Windows Storage Server 2016 STD

Hello,

I have recently bought a Windows Storage Server Rack mount device which came preinstalled with Windows 2016 STD (Japanese).

I've been trying to no-avail, to convert it to Display Language English, but it simply seems locked to Japanese.

I'd like to reinstall an English version using the same License key (printed on the machines outer casing), however I am unable to find anywhere on the Microsoft site where I can redownload WSS 2016. Is it still possible ?

1) Does anyone know where I can obtain a legitimate copy from ?

2) Can I reuse the License key ?

 

Windows Server 2016 Upgrade

When updating from windows server 2012 R2 to server 2016, I'm not getting the step by step procedures where you can select keep file and apps and other steps. I just get the setup screen, which after couple of minutes it display a window to select what type of windows server you want to install.

Once selected it does a full install of windows server 2016, which re-images the C drive. Afterwards you have to re-install all your applications.

Any suggestions on why it doesn't go through the step by step procedures.

avoiding any recovery scenario from backup or system recovery disk ( which I've tested and fully working from Buffalo Technologies for one disk only )

using diskpart or any powershell command on Windows Storage Server 2016 Workgroup edition ?
