javafx on the Symbian...

Hi,





I'd like to develop JavaFX applications for Symbian S60v5 (in particular the N97). Is a javafx runtime already available?

Well, as it has been said in the JavaFX faq:



2.6 Can JavaFX applications run on an Android handset?


Sun demonstrated JavaFX applications running on Android in May 2008 at JavaOne in San Francisco. In fact,
JavaFX is capable of running on nearly any mobile operating system, assuming the necessary runtime files have been preloaded on the device. Device manufacturers that are interested in including JavaFX Mobile with their Android-based
handsets are encouraged to contact Sun for further details



I have tried to bundle the runtime packages with my app, but no luck about it yet. If you manage to do something about it, please let me know, I am VERY interested in this topic.



Just to add up to the discussion, there is no interest neither from Symbian or Sun to develop a runtime for Nokia phones. Perhaps it has to do something with this:

That is really bad news. I think it almost means that JavaFX on mobile is practically dead. From what I know there is only one way out which is to package a JavaFX runtime with the application allowing it to run on any MSA compliant platform. Unfortunately,
SUN has still not released this runtime library yet.
