Windows 10: Jdk 1.3 desktop client not launching on Windows 10 1709

We use a jdk 1.3 swing client for our application. It is outdated and we have already moved most of the functionalities to microservices. However, there are users still using the old jdk 1.3 client, until we decommission it in Jan.


With the Win 10 1709 version, the client is not launching. I can see that the javaw process is running in task manager but isn't opening the client. It is working with Win 10 1607, but not working with Win 10 1709.


Any thoughts/inputs greatly appreciated.

Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

Windows 10 Update Assistant suggests to install version 1709.

I prompt it to download...

....THEN I get a prompt to install.

....THEN I allow it to install.

.... THEN I get a prompt to restart the PC.

.... THEN I restart the PC

.... PC is now rebooted. works good.

.....THEN Windows Update Assistant suggests to install version 1709...... AGAIN.

.... Process repeats again and again.

Things I have checked.

1.) ResetWUEng.cmd // I reset the Windows Update Components

2.) I used get-hotfix in PowerShell. All installed updates that was listed matched with the list under "Control Panel >Uninstall or change a program > View installed updates"

3.) I used wushowhide.diagcab // no hidden updates listed

In summary, The PC device keeps asking to install 1709. It also suggested to install KB16299 (related to 1709?). It installs. It reboots. It's on. It repeats.
