Thumbnails don’t show

I'm Christine, an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I'm happy to assist you.

Please follow the steps to enable the thumbnail on your device.

1. Use “Start + E” to open File Explorer.
2. Click on the “Menu” (three horizontal dots) icon on the top bar.
3. Select the “Options” option.
4. Go to the “View” tab.
5. Uncheck the “Always show icons, never thumbnails” checkbox to show thumbnail previews.
6. Select the “Always show icons, never thumbnails” checkbox to turn off thumbnail previews.
7. Click the “Apply” button.
8. Click the “Ok” button.
9. File Explorer will now show thumbnails.
10. You might have to close and re-open File Explorer to see thumbnails.

Thumbnails will not show

Hello,

Make sure you've enabled thumbnail preview:

If issue still persists, try to reset thumbnail cache with these steps:

1. Right click on Start Button and select Command Prompt (Admin).

2. Type following commands one-by-one and press Enter after each:

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe

del /f /s /q /a %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\thumbcache_*.db

start explorer.exe

3. Reboot the machine, which should rebuild thumbnail cache.

Unable to show .nef thumbnails on windows 10

When going to any folder with .nef files, from my nikon d850, no thumbnails are shown. I have tried:

Click on View tab and check if the below options are checked:

• Display file icon on thumbnails
• 
  Show preview handlers in preview pane.
  

d. Uncheck the below options:

• 
  Always show icons, never thumbnails
  
• 
  Always show menu
  

e. Enable or disable any other options you wish to make changes on by checking and unchecking the adjacent option boxes.

f. Click on Apply and OK.

This did nothing.

I can see the .nef files from all of my older cameras like the d750.
