  1. July 2018 Update Hung at 30%

I just had to have my OS re-installed after similar problem with May 2018 update. Last night home Gateway PC had "install and shutdown" message as I went to shut it down. This morning, appears hung at 30%.

Arrived to my office and work HP machine shows "restart required to install update." Obviously NOT going to shutdown. Is Microsoft doing ANYTHING to correct these issues????

    :)

Update hung at 30% for 6 hours

My laptop was updating to the latest preview build today, and has hung at 30%.

I had to go out and when I got back 6 hours later, it is still hung at 30%.

Is there any chance that it will actually complete the installation if I just leave it overnight, or is this as far as it's likely to go?

If it's the latter, I would be grateful for any recommendations in what to do to minimise damage?

    Office Update hung at 30%

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you. Let me assist you.

Provide us with the below details for better clarity on the issue.

    1. Do you get any error code or message when you try to update?

    2. Is the issue specific to Microsoft Office application?

The update service on the computer might be facing a corruption. You may try resetting it to start the new update process. I suggest you to try the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Update Troubleshooter on the computer.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Update. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Windows update.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
    • Click on Troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
    • Run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
    • Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

If Method 1 doesn’t help try resetting the update components.

Method 2: Reset the Windows Update Components

Refer the link below for the steps to manually reset the Update components and check if it helps.
