Windows 10: July 2020 windows 10 update

After the July 2020 update to windows 10, my laptop doesn't start normally.

It goes through the BIOS, restarts then it tells me, "Preparing for Automatic repair" and takes me to the troubleshooting, advanced options and maintenance menu. All this happens *very* slowly.


I clicked on advanced options and have 6 choices:

Startup Repair;

Cannot repair or fix problems that prevent windows from loading.

"Startup repair couldn't repair your PC"


Command prompt;

Tried to access the partition to copy the image to CD or flash drive.

Command prompt takes me to x:/windows/system32

Is this the partitioned 'backup' windows 10 file system?


Uninstall updates;

It won't uninstall either the recently installed quality or feature updates.


UEFI Firmware Settings;

I changed settings in the firmware and tested ... no change.


System restore;

Does not work unless I get a normal windows startup.


System Image Recovery;

Because my Windows 10 backup is in a separate partition, this link does not see the image or files.

When I start the reset option, I can see the image in the partitioned disk, however cannot access it.

The reset option does not give me the option to save any files first, before I reset. Does this mean I'd even lose the backup image if I went ahead with the reset?


I have tried each choice, to no avail.

How do I get this horrible update, Microsoft installed on my system, fixed?

I've wasted a whole month trying various options and really need help.

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
