July 2020 Windows Update causes VBRUN300.DLL crash on 32-bit Windows 10

After installing the July 2020 Windows Updates on 32-bit Windows 10, 16-bit applications crash on start with a VBRUN300.DLL error.

I have tested KB4565511 on 32-bit Windows 10 LTSB 2016 and KB4565552 on 32-bit Windows 10 1803. In both cases, removing the update stops the crashing.

This seems to be the same problem that occurred October 2019:

    VBRUN300.DLL Error in Windows 10

    Aracely,

Thanks for your help. I did follow your suggestion to register the .dll file; however, once registered it brought up an error window:

"The module VBRUN300.dll may not be compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check if the module is compatible with an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe"

Thus it does not get into the register. I know it is a 32-bit because it ran well in windows 98, XP 7, and on previos versions of Win 10 Pro x86.

    Present version is Windows 10 pro 32-bit v. 1903

    Thanks for your help,

  4. July 2020 Windows Update causes VBRUN300.DLL crash on 32-bit Windows 10

KB4493509 Causes Problems with VB3 Programs on 32-bit edition of Windows.

Our company has a legacy application written in VB3 that runs on 32-bit editions of Windows. After installing KB4493509, our application crashes with the message "General Protection Fault in module VBRUN300.DLL". Uninstalling KB4493509 fixes this problem.

Can Microsoft please look into this issue, as there are likely many users that still run legacy VB3 applications. Thank you.
