Windows 10: July 2022 CU KB5015807 breaks USB virtual port

Some of our workstations have an USB printer attached to a virtual USB. Windows shows the port as Port Description PrinterUSB002 Virtual printer port for USB {Printernname}After KB5015807 installed, all of the machines with this CU installed had the printer to port connection broken, leaving the workstation unable to print. Now the Description shows as "UnknownPrinter" an the port is no longer selected for the printer. Simply selecting put the checkmark back on that line with UnknownPrinter has things working again.KB5015807 breaks something in this

No USB Virtual Printer Ports

When manually installing a printer, I cannot select a USB port because none exist. How do I get the virtual printer ports for USB001, USB002, USB003, etc. to appear in the list?

I have read through many replies and I do NOT need to know how to manually add a printer. Creating a new port does nothing but give a name to something that doesn't exist.

Also, I do NOT need information on updating my driver because I am using the generic/text only driver within Windows.

If the ports don't appear the the port list, what do I have to do so that they will?

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
