Windows 10: Jump list AppIDs for Office 2016 x64bit?

My firm plans to migrate to 64 bit Office by the end of the year.

So my question is this: are the AppIDs for the 32 bit versions for MS Office apps the same as the AppIDs for the 64 bit versions?



Geeky TMI / aka why I'm asking:

I am concerned about losing jump lists for Word, Excel, 32 bit editions and about whether or not we'll be able to copy/move them over to the 64 bit editions. If the AppIDs are the same, then great! We (hopefully) won't have any issues with jump lists.

I found a list of AppIDs for jump lists in Windows 10. But, it only lists one App ID for "Microsoft Office Word 2016" which I think must the AppID for the 32bit version since it matches the file name listed in my jump list folder.

• File name for Word 2016: a18df73203b0340e.automaticDestinations-ms

I know this isn't a huge, earth shattering technical concern: the jump lists will re-populate eventually. But I do tech support at a law firm & I know that some of the... um.... less technically adept legal staff will freak out if they lose their jump lists, so I'm trying to be proactive. Googling it hasn't been of much help.

Jump Lists Not working for Word 2016 or Excel 2016


so jump lists via my taskbar and windows 10, I'm not having much joy :-(

I've just got a new desktop (Jan 2016) with windows 10 pre-loaded and I installed office 2010 - jump lists didn't work - so I thought I'll uninstall and install office 2016 64bit - jump lists still don't work arrggggg!

But they work for IE and notepad and file explorer but not for firefox or photoshop elements.

I've tried deleting the files from:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations
and rebooting but to no avail

any ideas anyone????

I really need jump lists working for Excel & Word.

Not quite sure what you want to do -- drop downs etc in EXCEL seem OK and the "Recent documents" in EXCEL gives you a decent number of your recently accessed files.

Microsoft Office Taskbar Jump Lists

Hi Ken,

For us to better assist you with the taskbar Jump Lists issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to the computer prior to this issue (e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Does the issue also occur on other pinned apps/files?
  

In the meantime, we suggest to turn off/on Jump Lists in Settings. To do so, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + i to open Settings, then select
  Personalization.
• In the left pane, click Start.
  
• Turn Off then turn On Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on the Start or the taskbar.
