  1. Jump lists no longer working after changing root c:\ permissions

I was writing a batch file that did a lot of reading and writing to small text files, and I wanted to speed that up by writing to my SSD, which is my root C drive, so after Googling the access denied error I was receiving when trying to write there, I changed the ownership of my entire C:\ drive and all files on it, and changed permissions to Full Access for my user I'm the only user on the machine and I'm the administrator, but I wasn't the "Owner" of C:\. After restarting the computer, not only did this not fix the problem I still can't write to the C:\ drive from a batch file, now when

  2. Jump Lists No Longer Appear

After the uninstallation of some software yesterday, I no longer have jump lists in my taskbar icons. I right click on them, and there's no response whatsoever. Right click functionality on the taskbar itself and in all other places appears to be normal. I'm hoping there will be a relatively simple registry key I can edit or something. Anyone have some suggestions?

You could try this free program (easy to find) - options switch jump lists on and off.

(a nice feature of it is if you mouse over the taskbar, the scroll wheel controls volume)

There's also this setting (bottom) (just search Settings for jump)

    Microsoft Office Taskbar Jump Lists

    Hi Ken,

For us to better assist you with the taskbar Jump Lists issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to the computer prior to this issue (e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Does the issue also occur on other pinned apps/files?

In the meantime, we suggest to turn off/on Jump Lists in Settings. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + i to open Settings, then select
      Personalization.
    • In the left pane, click Start.
    • Turn Off then turn On Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on the Start or the taskbar.

We're looking forward to your reply.
