  1. Jumping from XP to 10

    Hello all,

Its been years since I was on any kind of a forum. I lived in them for all sorts of reasons but with time I don't seem to be involved with anything worth discussing.

Now comes yesterday where my 15 year old Hp, which I populated and loaded with mostly free stuff after the original hard drive crashed after one week, finally said goodnight. I had installed two 500 g Seagates to rebuild and this was about 2012. God I hate switching to a new PC since nothing works, but I have no choice now.

The #1 drive is all I used and periodically copied that drive to the # 2 drive for backup. Happily both drives are fine, but I'm having some issues with reading files using the SATA to USB adapter method. The first obstacle was the Windows firewall and that let me into the desktop, but everything in My Docs was hidden and I spent the day trying to figure out how to display it. I am in, however, so many files simply are telling me I have no permission and in such random fashion it doesn't make sense. I know how to get into a single file and gain permission but I have 500 gigs of this kinda stuff ( pics, WAVS, MP3's, documents, etc.) and it would take me a lifetime to open them all up. I've tried to gain permission of all files within a folder but that doesn't seem to work well. Also, some folders which have images within do not display them in the outside folder thumbs when others around them do. Everything is so haphazard and random. I'm missing XP already.

How do you make this Windows 10 thing behave?

    :)

In-place upgrade - XP to 10 without losing the apps

Wolfgang, you need at least two steps (Vista & Seven) between XP and 10, the Eight can be bypassed:
    • XP can only be in-place upgraded to Vista, not Seven or later
    • Vista can be in-place upgraded to Seven but not Eight or later
    • Seven can be in-place upgraded to 10
    • Ergo: XP to Vista is a must, as well as Vista to Seven but then you can bypass the Eight and jump to 10

    cannot turn off jump list

    Hi Rohit,

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow these steps on how to turn off the Jump Lists on Windows 10:

    • Go to Start menu, search Settings, then press
      Enter.
    • Click Personalization.
    • Select Start.
    • Turn off the Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or taskbar.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.

    Jumping from XP to 10

    AMD FX OC'ers Club

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
