Windows 10: Just downloaded Windows 10 & after restarting I get a "Password is incorrect" error for my...

Hey everyone -

I have no clue what's going on. I went to restart to download my graphics card drivers and now when I try to login it says it's an incorrect password. I know for a fact it's not - I use this password all the time and even set up a hint in case I forget.

It remembers the hint, so I'm not sure it's wiping and restarting the OS every single time (I booted from a flash drive when I built my PC last night).

Is there any aid on this? Not even sure what's the issue, or how to go about it. I only have a few things downloaded - since I was only using Windows for an hour or two - so if I need to wipe and reinstall I'm fine with that, but I really want to avoid this in the future.

edit: i’ve attempted to boot up in safe mode but it didn’t work when I tried it. maybe I wasn’t doing something correctly but i’m not sure

Windows 10: Password Incorrect

Hi.

I have the same problem.

On my surface pro the Upgrade went fine, and on my PC it keeps saying incorrect password when I try to log in. I log on my SP without problems With the same Microsoft account.

My pc is online, and there is no other error Message than the incorrect password. I have tried rebooting a lot of times, I have logged out of the SP to try to log in on the pc. I have also changed the password on my Microsoft account, and everythings going
fine on the SP, and the same incorrect password Message repeats itself on my pc

I have separate licences on my devicess of course, and everything was working fine With Windows 8.1 on both Devices.

Password incorrect

How do I get out of safe mode so I can reset my settings?

1. Press Windows + R keys to open Run command.
2. Type msconfig and press Enter.
3. In the window, click on Boot tab.
4. uncheck Safe boot, click on Apply and Ok. Restart

Not sure why it started in Safe mode. May have been out of sync with your phone from prev incorrect password. See if restart fixes. At least, you know what your universal MS password is. *Wink

 

The Password is Incorrect

I have tried login in to my computer on Windows 10 but it shows password is incorrect. I have followed the steps indicated but it is still showing that the password is incorrect. Please advise.
