Just upgraded. Problem with disk space at 100%

Just upgraded, but I noticed some performance issues. So I checked in task manager and saw nothing wrong on the processes tab (Imgur). Notice it says 2% Disk Usage.
But when I go to the Performance tab, I see something different. (Imgur) The disk usage is regularly hitting 100%, while in the Processes tab it never reaches that.
I tried to some common fixes, including disabling Windows Defender, disabling PreFetch and SuperFetch, disk defragmentation, but nothing seems to reduce the disk usage.
Here are the current highest I/O read/write bytes under the Details tab. (Imgur). Any ideas?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Disk Space at 100%

We have several windows computers in my household and slowly windows 10 is killing them off. First the family laptop had this error and then mine, and now my girlfriends. I am assuming that this is an OS issue because it is happening on multiple devices.
It does seem to only happen to laptops though.

The issue is that the computer is running extremely EXTREMELY slow. Took about 10 min to load Microsoft word, and im not exaggerating. When i got to task manager to see what is making it lag i see the disk space is always at 100% on every computer. I try
and go to see which specific program is hogging up the space and nothing is really over .5 mb/s so i am unsure what the problem.

The computers are up to date with all drivers and Microsoft updates (Excluding bing)

The computers have disk space varying from 250gb to 750gb so that is not the issue either.

Like I said I am assuming this is an OS issue so i have just been waiting for an update to fix this but there hast been so I came here for help.

In order to diagnose your problem we need to run Windows performance toolkit the instructions for which can be found in
    this wiki

If you have any questions feel free to ask

Please run the trace when you are experiencing the problem

Are you getting any freeze ups ? Picture shown at time, not showing high percentage for the disk. Updated system drivers from manufacturer's site since the upgrade. Do not think turning off optimization in Windows 10 will matter as it runs on a schedule you set.

Does this happen when idle? Chrome i see uses a lot, known to be a resource hog, just a mention seeing with that open and 2 others using 29% memory.

If your power plan is set to Balanced try to change it to High performance and observe your system. Maybe you see the result after a reboot.
In Event Veiwer expand the Custom Views folder on the left hand side and click on Administrative Events, any pertaining to the disk. Look for another process that may be using the HDD often. Check SMART data on drive.

Check virtual memory use (pagefile). How much percentage of space is left on drive. Check for malware.

When exactly did you upgrade, how long ago,did problem occur right after ? Any restore points prior ?
Did you check any of programs might possibly using disk ? Virtual memory is kind of high as you see recommended is 1.6GB, but would leave it alone if letting windows decide eventually will decrease, seen it happen to me. Drive half full as would take 15-20% left to cause you issues, as you have 47% left.

Have a utility to check SMART data on drive and even do a test on it, rule out a HDD issue ?

Run chkdsk from the elevated command prompt, type chkdsk c: /f /r

I meant to update all system drivers from manufacturer's site that are most important, if have Windows 10 drivers. If need help there list make and model of PC or fill in system specs here.

    Already ran chkdsk.

I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday, which is when the problem started. How do I check for programs using the disk?

Running a SMART test right now.

Any ideas on why the Disk Usage reported on the Processes tab is different to the one on the Performance tab?

Look at chkdsk log, can use this way

    1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type powershell.exe, and press Enter.

    2. In PowerShell, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.

    get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname="Application"; id="1001"}| ?{$_.providername –match "wininit"} | fl timecreated, message | out-file Desktop\CHKDSKResults.txt

    3. You will now have a CHKDSKResults.txt file created on your desktop that is the log file of your chkdsk scan results from Event Viewer.

Think performance is showing it in last minute, but percentage was 0 in performance, graph think showed the previous usage.

Try resource monitor, be in All Apps, Windows Administrator Tools, Resource Monitor, look under Disc.

Safe mode is always another way to know if this is caused by a software or driver, as is a clean boot, can run safe mode for awhile to see if it happens. Not going to let you know which software or driver, but if it does not do it, least tells you a cause is more related to that.

Does say that some drives may not support it. SMART status is o.k.. Did you try Seatools since you have a Seagate drive ? Like to see chkdsk. Still can be the HDD. Admit i am not good at reading all SMART data, from ones i know they seem fine.

Well, it failed a Short DST test. Whatever that is. It passed the SMART check, though.
