Are you all happy with the protection KIS 2016 provides, noting the limitations in Post 9? I'm inclined to wait for a fully supported version before upgrading to Windows 10.

Go to their forum and ask about the limitations , lots of info there , i think thats old news , at least it was old news with the AV only . I was told a few weeks back that all functions are active and that's how it acts to me but i use the AV not "Internet security".

  3. Hi:

Disclaimer: Not yet running Win10, but a long-time Kaspersky home user here.

Kindly pardon my intrusion in this thread.

I just thought I would mention a few things that might improve your chances of an uneventful upgrade and use of KIS/KAV/KTS:
    • KIS/KAV/KTS 2016 is the only version that is fully compatible with Win10 -- see HERE.
    • "Best Practices" for KIS/KAV/KTS (and most other security applications, as advised by M$) include temporarily uninstalling the program (whatever version) BEFORE the Win10 upgrade -- see HERE. While one can "Keep License Info" during the uninstall, it's a good idea to have one's 20-digit activation code available before starting the process, just in case.
    • As for the bugs and glitches, Patch B is currently in Beta testing. It fixes many of the "limitations" with earlier builds -- see HERE.
    • Your valid 2015 KIS/KAV/KTS license should work just fine for 2016 for the remainder of your license period, as the license policy is -1 & +3 versions. IOW: 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018

    Cheers,

    MM

I just have Kaspersky AV not the" Internet Security" but one of the first things i do is run the "Vulnerability scanner" right after a clean install because of vulnerabilities and Kaspersky makes it super easy .

I run this before i even plug into the net and update the program.

As far as I can tell its not fixed as yet , http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php...post&p=2455012

Sometime this month September by a database update, I'm holding off myself upgrading to win 10 until this is fully sorted.

No, its not fixed yet - see the reply I got from Kaspersky below (in their English). I'll wait until this is sorted out before upgrading to Windows 10.

"Regarding the current limitations: Compatibility of Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 with Windows 10 , patches will be released that they will resolve those limitations. Full compatibility is expected by the end of September. Those patches will be applied through your usual database update."

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 or 2016?

See page 112 of the KIS 2016 User Guide at http://docs.kaspersky-labs.com/engli...erguide_en.pdf which states 'limitations' under Windows 10.

I won't be upgrading to Windows 10 unless I can use a fully functional version of KIS 2016 under Windows 10. Kaspersky advised me a fully functional version should be available by the end of September but the documentation indicates this hasn't been released yet.

  9. Patch C is in beta-testing now.
It will fix many of the issues currently being reported by Win10 users.

More information about the changelog and bug fixes here: Patch С is available for testing, KAV/KIS/KTS 2016 MR0

I have used Kaspersky for many years, my uncle's company used Kaspersky Endpoint Advanced and to date no issues. Now for Windows 10 Enterprise would be October 2015 and that was a near certain yes, now that's not happening. I called tech suppport the other day to ask the question and he called me a liar, until I directed him to the various links for their manuals. Kaspersky have really messed up, Windows 8 was bad enough, considering smaller AV companies have managed it, I think Eugene should answer the question that many are asking, but that will never happen.

I used KIS and it was really bad. I switched to Avast AIS and it works great. Their latest Beta was made for Win 10 and it works and is cheaper than KIS.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 or 2016?

As a Barclays customer, I have a free licence to use KIS on 3 PCs so that's an incentive to stay with KIS.

It's looking like patch C for 2016 is out, and will be updated with a database update.

Tech Article is here: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2016 release info
Patch C for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2016 has been released on October 19, 2015.

Patch C is installed automatically with the databases update of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2016 version 16.0.0.614 and fixes the following issues:

    • Some issues of compatibility with Windows 10.
    • Vulnerablities that have been leading to corruption of storage contents due to incorrect analysis of malware in DEX, VB6, CHM, ExeCryptor, Pe, Yoda Protector, and some other formats.
    • Some interface issues

looking at the new guide and the list of windows 10 limitations on page 75 http://docs.kaspersky-labs.com/engli...erguide_en.pdf

It looks like some of the limitations have been fixed as the list is a lot shorter which is great, but there are still some left :-

Kaspersky Anti-Virus limitations under Microsoft Windows 10

The following functionality is partly limited in the application installed on the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system:

Self-Defense. Self-Defense of the application GUI does not work even when it is enabled.

    System Watcher.

Protection against cryptors and screen lockers. The application can detect only the most basic varieties of
    cryptors and screen lockers.

Malware disinfection in the system memory.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus limitations under Microsoft Windows 10 with the Device Guard mode enabled:

Operation of the following functionality is also partly limited:

Rootkit search and disinfection (postponed disinfection of files after computer restart; detection of malware that
creates autorun keys in the registry).

Heuristic Analysis (emulation of the startup of suspicious applications).

I still feel there are important items not working. I will probably hold off a Windows 10 install for the time being, As I would like the same protection KIS is doing for my Windows 8.1 OS ( I'm sure other AV are having similar problems)

I noticed as of today Patch C was installed on my Windows 8.1 PC. The remaining limitations described in the post above are still too severe for me to upgrade to Windows 10 yet. When is Kaspersky anti-virus software going to have full functionality under Windows 10?
