    excerpt................
Microsoft today released a new cumulative update for Windows 10. The update is labelled KB3147461, and it is available for download on all devices running ‘the original’ version of Windows 10 (July 2015 release).

This is the second cumulative update for Windows 10 released today. The other one is KB3147458, which is available for users who run Windows 10 Version 1511. Although two updates were released at the same time, they’re not so similar, as each release brings its own improvements to the system.

No problems on two desktops and laptop. However I'm perplexed. Reading the forums here most folks seem to not have any problems with the updates. But when you go to the MS forums to post any problems in regards to these updates it seems people are having nothing but problems. I've received over 80 replies to MS forums of nothing but problems. Anyone have thoughts on why this is?

For some reason my Surface 3 shows the download but stays at zero percent, it's been like that for hours.

My three systems are all clean installs and have no problems with updates. I did have a problem with 1 system that was still an update from W8.1. Update to 1511 failed. Did a clean install and it's been great ever since. When RS1 comes out this summer I will update but probably do a clean install fairly quickly.

Perhaps they are running older hardware like me. This computer ( 7 year old hardware) was fine with the previous Win 10 Pro1511 build but it looks like Device Manager has changed. My satellite TV card no longer works and I can't install the driver whatever I try. Hey ho!

  10. Because the forum is full of noobs. Problem is caused by some other issues(rather they screw up something which they don't know) and they blame updates for it.I maintain around 30 computers in my lab and not a single computer gets an issue with the updates.
Common complaints are like updates caused the icons to auto arrange *Biggrin and deleted everything from the computer.
On this site, people are somewhat more technical.

Your somewhat correct, but not totally. There are many things that can cause an issue. An installed program, corrupt driver or worse incompatible driver just to name a few. The forum allows help from people that have figured out what could be the cause and how to fix the problem. 98% of my updates went without a hitch, every now and then that nasty 2% bites me. Stuff does happen!*Smile

  12. OK

Here is what I did: I tried to to the Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade but there is a option to check for updates should I avoid it since the latest ones are giving me problems or use it and since it's a repair install it will not give me the same problems I had before?

    Also in this screen:

Windows 10 only let me choose nothing! I'm not a expert but I guess I need to launch the win setup with administration rights? Since I'm not sure about my updates doubt above I will wait for someone clear my doubts first.

EDIT: Found a english image on google since my system is in Portuguese:

    To Needhelpwithwin,

It only allows you to keep nothing because you had downloaded the WRONG Windows 10 iso file.

You must download the same Windows Edition, same Language and same bit version you computer is now running.
Please go back to the iso download link you were using and start over again.

  14. Agree with you there I also look after loads of laptops/desktop computers and have not had one single problem with any of them.
I keep BIOS and drivers updated and so far not one upgrade or update has messed anything up

  15. That was my fear! In fact I'm using the exactly same version! I download it from Microsoft site and build a flash drive with it.

After the installation I needed the flash drive for something else so I copied all the windows 10 files to a folder in another PC and let them there as a backup. Now that I need it again I copied back all the files to the same flash drive to do this repair! I don't think so but can this be the problem?
