Just received this through Windows Update CH. What does Device Access Broker ACL actually do?

  6. Only a idea:
An access control list (ACL), with respect to a computer file system, is a list of permissions attached to an object. An ACL specifies which users or system processes are granted access to objects, as well as what operations are allowed on given objects. Each entry in a typical ACL specifies a subject and an operation. For instance, if a file object has an ACL that contains (Alice: read, write; Bob: read), this would give Alice permission to read and write the file and Bob to only read it.

Microsoft has finally released information on this.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3152599

    Symptoms

Preinstalled system applications and the Start menu may not work on some computers when you upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10 Version 1511.

    Cause

This issue occurs because of a race condition that causes certain registry keys to become inaccessible to logged-in users. Therefore, the preinstalled system applications that have to touch those registry keys can't be installed during the appx deployment phase.

  11. I googled this KB and it seems it shouldn't of made its way into our computers and was intended for insiders. The consensus is it is harmless but I don't think even MS knows why some people got it through on updates. In any event it got re-released so maybe that's the one we got down the pipe yesterday - all very confusing

New mystery patch KB 3152599 for Win10 showing on Windows Update servers @ AskWoody

Heck I even got kb 3135782 yesterday as a flash update despite it being only updated the day before on the traditional patch Tuesday date. Although the version number of flash didn't change this was weird as that KB relates to the February flash update! Thank god flash seems fine on my system in both edge or IE after this or else would of been completely unimpressed.

Some strange goings on at MS.

I always read what you post or when you say an update is ready because 9 times out of 10 you are spot on.
Since doing so not one of my systems has crashed or given me any problems
So keep up the good work

  15. I upgraded my PC from Windows-7 to Window-10 in 2015, but received this update on Wed 5/11/2016 anyway. Maybe Microsoft pushed this out to every Win-10 P.C., regardless of what Operating System was on the P.C. before the upgrade.
