Windows 10: KB3167685 Flash Update fails on 1511 64-bit

We are seeing one of the latest updates fail for Flash.
I even downloaded it from the catalog and it failed to install.

What should my next step be?
Presumably one wants this to be installed.

Nothing I've found seems to quite fit this current issue.

This applies to well more than one computer and I wouldn't call them "unusual" in any way!!

I have temporarily disabled The McAfee LiveSafe real-time scanner and firewall and then clicked "check for updates" in Settings - Update & security - Windows Update. The update failed again with the same error code.

Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3167685) has now failed 46 times with Error 0x80242fff since the 28th of June 2016.

Is there any merit in uninstalling / re-installing Flash player?

FURTHER UPDATE (5th July 2016):

I think the failure of this update is preventing other updates from downloading. If I look in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log I can see the following text:

Windows Update Client successfully detected 13 updates.

followed by:

Windows has started installing the following update: Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3167685)

Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80242fff: Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3167685

Any further assistance would be very much appreciated.

hi i have a similar issue, i get the message below on updates:

Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3167685) - Error 0x80242fff

i have tried all of the steps above (proxy settings were already disabled)

any further options.

I am using widows 10 64 bit
