KB3197356 kills the ability to uninstall earlier KB3194496

I'm one of those that were hurt by the last week KB3194496 update, meaning it completely killed my USB ports and I'm unable to use mouse/keyboard/USB sticks. I uninstalled it to avoid such problems and after removal all worked perfectly.

However as you know Win10 by default will automatically download and install new updates and today KB3194496 was auto-installed again. What's worse, it actually was installed together with some new update - KB3197356 and currently I have no option to remove the problematic KB3194496. I can only remove KB3197356 and I'm a little stuck here.

Does the situation mean I need both updates and keep suffering from dead USB ports or shall I simply remove the latest update installed, hoping that KB3194496 will appear for uninstallation as well?

    :)

  3. KB3189866 Network Drives Problem

Agreed - it would appear that Norton was not your troublemaker here (for once).

Note that everything in cumulative update for Win10 1607 KB3189866 is likely to be included in
    cumulative updates KB3193494, KB3194496 & KB3197356.

The "switch to SMB v2" & "Credential Manager" fixes were cited in many of the Answers & tenforums.com threads I cited.

KB3197356 kills the ability to uninstall earlier KB3194496

UPDATE: So I had to uninstall KB3197356 first and then the option to remove KB3194496 re-appeared.

But how to prevent KB3194496 from re-installing? I don't want to disable all updates as described in this forums, only this specific one. I've tried MS tool to hide particular updates (available here), but it doesn't detect KB3194496 as an update available for blocking... *Sad

    Understood, thank you!

I guess I can also run the script offered on this forums to disable auto-downloading updates to get the desired result. In my case my WiFi connection in managed by the company and I can't set it as a metered one.

I don't think you need to be able to set your connection to metered, you just tell windows that it is
