    KB4058258 - Installed or not?

    Hi all

    Not sure if KB4058258 has installed or not.

    BEFORE update, laptop had reverted to its former* "shut-down-whenever-it-feels-like-it" state. (*See Windows 10 Keeps going into sleep after 1 minute idle ).

    Yesterday, after KB4058258 spent a day telling me it was ready to install, it did. And demanded a restart. I shut down laptop for night. On boot this morning, it was still demanding a restart. After some other stuff, I restarted. It still wants a restart. I looked at the installs history and, apparently, it successfully installed (See Images).

  2. Windows 10 Update prevents bootup

    You need to first uninstall KB4056892, restart, then download KB4058258 and install that.

    So, what I recommend you do is download KB4058258 in advance and have that ready.

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Sea...

    In safe mode...

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: appwiz.cpl

    Hit Enter

    Click View installed updates

    See if KB4056892 is installed or not.

    If it is, right click it then uninstall it.

    Restart in Normal Mode, then install KB4058258

    KB4056892 Bricked My AMD System

    well, if you can reach desktop in safe mode, then maybe you can install KB4058258 update over, but first you will need to install the service stack update.

    so download KB4074608 and KB4058258 from Windows Update Catalog.

    then try to install first the service stack update KB4074608
    using this command…

    wusa "XXXX"

    XXXX = the path location of KB4074608 update.

    then try to install first the update KB4058258
    using this command…

    wusa "XXXX"

    XXXX = the path location of KB4058258 update.

    There is nothing wrong it required a Restart, not a Shut down.
    A Shut down depends on how a user has configured it, usually a sort of Sleep/Hibernation.
    It is a cumulative update thus checking on an enormous number of previous updates to see whether they have been done before and several Restarts maybe be required.
    Chill out be happy, no worries, all is well.

  6. You can type winver in a run command to make sure it was installed.

    Hi all!

    Many thanks for those answers. I've checked - I'm on build 214. I note a few restarts will be required. And I've checked out the linked page. Reassured now. Well, except for the stock market's behaviour ( *Eek ).

    Dalchina, I'll just have to thank you for the "Brink link" (Ihave to remember to check the News first). The AddRep button won't let me yet.

    Cheers
