Windows 10: KB4467702 Update won't install, computer freezes then locks up

A week or two ago my computer tried to do an update but it was late at night and I didn't want the computer on so I tried to shut it down, it didn't want to shutdown so I forcibly powered it down (held power button till it shutoff).

Since then it won't finish installing KB4467702. It says it is trying to, either initializing or installing or downloading, but it won't ever finish.

While it is trying to install, the computer will freeze for a few seconds, then be ok, then a minute or two later it will freeze, then be ok. Eventually it will totally lock up.

The `windows modules installer worker` is running all the time, at about 10% of processor, and 0.1 disk use. If it is running, then the computer will freeze occasionally and then lock up.

Using the script found here - https://www.windowsphoneinfo.com/threads/reset-windows-update-in-windows-10.9160/ - I can get the update to reset, it thinks it is up to date, the computer will work great (module installer not running), then next reboot it will try to find updates and we are back to where we were before - freezes, then locks up.

While running the script linked to above, I will get a few error messages, among them:
Could Not Find C:\ProgramData\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat
Could Not Find C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat

I have run chkdsk/f C: - no problems.


I have run the troubleshooter > windows update several times, it will repair a few things but the same thing happens.


I have tried to install the latest update via the windows media tool, it will run for a while and then while it is checking for updates the same thing will happen.

Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

Maybe I Install a Windows 7 again, At least, all of my games run smoothly ...Sadness!!
