  1. KB5005565 incompatibility with i7-6800K: MICROCODE_REVISION_MISMATCH

Hi, I've been trying to update 21H1 build 19043.1083 Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0 to KB5005565 several times. Each time it results in a boot loop with the MICROCODE_REVISION_MISMATCH error. Since the recovery mode didn't work either, I reverted to the latest restore point, renamed the SoftwareDistribution and catroot2 folders in case somebody needs to know how, read the first reply here, restarted, and tried again. This time it still crashed, but the recovery mode finally worked and reverted the update automatically. I've read elsewhere that it's possible that my CPU model is no longer

    :)

  2. Which CPU to buy for GTX 1080 sli build

I only suggested the 6800k/X99 route for future proofing reasons. Like Earthdog said, it's not that much of a price difference when you were talking about $1200 on video cards alone. Get the best/newest you can afford. Going with the 6800k/X99 is only about 10% more than a i7 7700k/Z270, and only 15% or so more than going for an i5.

    Possible printer issue with KB5005565

Today I installed KB5005565 through WU on my desktop. Successfully installed.

Tonight my wife can't print from her laptop to the printer connected to my desktop. This has been working for years.
Printers work, can transfer files from laptop to desktop and back. All network setting unchanged.
I suspect the update I did today is the problem.
Has anyone else had this happen?

Looking at "Uninstall Updates" in WU there is for today:
    • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5005565)
    • Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.1220

Looking at System Restore, there are 3 restore points to go back to, all dated today:
    • Windows Modules Installer at 12:23
    • Windows Modules Installer at 12:22
    • update at 12:21

What's the best way to roll back?

    i7 6800k Overclock

I'm just Air Cooling my I7 6800K for right now, running at 4110 MHz at 1.254V with Blk of 100.16 MHz and under full temps do get 64C. If I try to go to 4210 MHz power increase to 1.28V with more heat and less results.
