Discus and support KB5005565 - off for another round of Missing Operating System ... in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; Well, there we go again.     KB5005565 - off for another round of Missing Operating System ...


    Well, there we go again. Much like what I reported here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/20h2-results-in-missing-operating-system-any-fix/0fd791f5-d8e9-45ff-ad0c-2b26c8410931 after installing 21H1 from a USB stick, next thing that happens is KB5005565, resulting once again in an unbootable system, "Missing Operating System" ... Using the 21H1 setup from the stick to repair the startup, remove updates, use a restore point, it all fails since after KB5005565 installation no more operating system can be found, hence supposedly there is not even anything there to repair

    After updates Windows 10 says "Missing operating system"

    I have the same issue, and I followed your suggestion steps. After that, I can see C: drive, and Windows folder is there.

    Then I rebooted the computer. But I still have the missing the operation system issue. Any suggestions?

    Possible printer issue with KB5005565

    Today I installed KB5005565 through WU on my desktop. Successfully installed.

    Tonight my wife can't print from her laptop to the printer connected to my desktop. This has been working for years.
    Printers work, can transfer files from laptop to desktop and back. All network setting unchanged.
    I suspect the update I did today is the problem.
    Has anyone else had this happen?

    Looking at "Uninstall Updates" in WU there is for today:
    • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5005565)
    • Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.1220

    Looking at System Restore, there are 3 restore points to go back to, all dated today:
    • Windows Modules Installer at 12:23
    • Windows Modules Installer at 12:22
    • update at 12:21

    What's the best way to roll back?

    Programs not working

    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.
