Windows 10: KB5005565

    Hello there, I am really getting sick of this now, over the past few months I have spent more time trying to solve issues than actually using my PC... ever since this KB5005565 update that wouldn't install a while ago... eventually it managed to install but my computer was never the same and I would get odd issues every now and then, but at least it seemed to be working.The thing is that a couple of weeks ago I noticed that when I go to the check for updates page it is blank with dots going across the top as if it's trying to search for updates? but it just continues that way forever.. trouble

    Possible printer issue with KB5005565

    Today I installed KB5005565 through WU on my desktop. Successfully installed.

    Tonight my wife can't print from her laptop to the printer connected to my desktop. This has been working for years.
    Printers work, can transfer files from laptop to desktop and back. All network setting unchanged.
    I suspect the update I did today is the problem.
    Has anyone else had this happen?

    Looking at "Uninstall Updates" in WU there is for today:
    • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5005565)
    • Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.1220

    Looking at System Restore, there are 3 restore points to go back to, all dated today:
    • Windows Modules Installer at 12:23
    • Windows Modules Installer at 12:22
    • update at 12:21

    What's the best way to roll back?

    I am on Version 21H2.

    Edited to avoid misunderstandings - Because there were contradictory posts in this thread about the applicability of this CU to Version 21H2, I checked that KB5005565 CU was listed in my WU results before proceeding.

    Because I was already on 21H2, and because there were contradictory posts in this thread about the applicability of this CU to Version 21H2, I checked that KB5005565 CU was listed in my WU results before proceeding.

    I can therefore confirm both that KB5005565 CU is intended for Version 21H2 and that it installs correctly.
    And there is at least one other thread confirming that it installs correctly.

    Possible printer issue with KB5005565

    I am having this exact same problem.

    1. Printing to a network printer does not work - after a while, the print list window shows the job as "Access denied".

    2. I tried deleting and re-adding the printer... bad mistake, It would not even let me add the printer "Operation could not be completed error 0x0000011b".

    3. I came to this thread and found the information about KB5005565. I uninstalled the updates (had to do it on all the sending computers and the receiving computer).

    4. That seemed to fix it until the next day, when it happened again. Win 10 had updated and KB5005565 had been installed again. Grrrrr!

    5. Downloaded wushowhide.diagcab and hid KB5005565 from updates, but within a few days, it ignored my ignore and updated again!

    6. I have currently put all updates on pause until this issue is resolved.

    Do Microsoft ever bother to actually check if these updates are going to cause issues before unleashing them on the unsuspecting public. With several computers and network printers to manage, this has caused me a lot of extra work I could have done without.

    Its the lesser of two evils. Choose between

    (a) Lose out on whatever KB5005565 has to offer.

    (b) Spend all day running around several computers (all of which are used full time, 8am to 6pm six days a week) trying to get their operators to give me an hour to fix it. This involves the operator saving all their work, closing off their job cards and logging out of their computer. Then I have to login, uninstall KB5005565 and restart. Once that is done, and I confirm its all working, I can hand the computer back to the user, and go to the next user and repeat the process. I have to do that another five times
