    KB5008212 update messes with startup apps - had to uninstall


    The KB5008212 update to my Windows 10 21H2 is the first update I've ever had to uninstall. Right after installing, I noticed that a number of my startup apps failed to load after a restart. I noticed this first when looking at my system tray, but saw in Task Manager that these apps were no longer in the list under the Startup tab! I went to all the missing apps, relaunched them, and in some cases, I had to reselect the option to load them at system start. The first time it happened, I thought it a fluke. But then later, the startup apps were wiped out again. Note also this phenomenon was happ

    Adding programs to startup with Windows 7?

    You could add entries to the registry to launch the apps on startup, but it's easier to just add them to the startup foler as Newt suggested.

    Update is a mess and I can not uninstall

    Latest "forced" updates have made my machine constantly hang up. When trying to uninstall, the "uninstall" button does not appear. Interestinly, the list of updates to install does not match the "update history." How to get out of this mess.
