  2. Is there any resolution or workaround for the issue caused by Windows update KB5011048?

Hi, currently, we are looking onto an exception from DevExpress caused by Windows update KB5011048. The part of the call stack are listed below:

    at DevExpress.Xpf.Bars.PopupControlService.ResetToolTipTimer()

    at DevExpress.Xpf.Bars.BarPopupBase.OnIsOpenChanged(DependencyObject d, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e)

    at System.Windows.DependencyObject.OnPropertyChanged(DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e)

    at System.Windows.FrameworkElement.OnPropertyChanged(DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e)

    ……

Based on DevExpress, Microsoft changed the API in KB5011048 that DevExpress used. As a result, the logic based on this API was broken. The description is in the article: InvalidProgramException (Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program) is thrown for IPopupControlServiceWrapper in .NET 6 / .NET 7 / .NET Framework 4.8.1

InvalidProgramException (Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program) is thrown for IPopupControlServiceWrapper in .NET 6 / .NET 7 / .NET Framework 4.8.1

Although a fix had been provided by DevExpress, we have to upgrade to new DevExpress that will be a huge task. Our question: is there any other resolution found, like a workaround, to resolve this issue?

    Thanks.

  3. Is there any resolution or workaround for the issue caused by Windows update KB5011048?

Hello Hailiang, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

The most direct workaround involves uninstalling update KB5011048. However, this may not serve as a lasting solution, as Windows updates are usually automatically reinstalled.

You can explore some of the recommendations for preventing the update from being reinstalled, as detailed in this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

In addition to these suggestions, and to ensure you stay current with Windows updates, it's advisable to consider implementing the fix provided by DevExpress for future reference in case another update causes the same issue. In a way, sooner or later with the backlog of updates, you will be forced to do it.

  4. KB5011048 causes one of my app stop working, how to skip this update?

Windows update caused my keyboard to stop working

The keyboard failure probably happened coincidentally with the update rather than being caused by it. You can find out like so:

    • Turn the machine on.
    • Wait until the spinning circle appears, then press the power button for 10 seconds to turn the laptop off.
    • Repeat the above steps three times. This will get you into Repair Mode.
    • Go to advanced options, then select the Command Prompt.
    • Check each and every keyboard key.
I think you will find that the problem keys still do not work, even though the current mode is not affected by the recent update. You probably have to replace the keyboard.
