Windows 10: KB5029331

Hello It seems that applying this update KB5029331 cause a change in the "recovery environment" for windows 10 such that the backup software that I use caused the tool that builds the recovery environment for the backup software now fails to boot I do see in the windows update history that KB5030211 has been installed, but even re-building the recovery environment for the backup software will fails to boot It was suggested that I uninstalled KB5029331 but since that was installed 4 or more updates have been applied Is it still possible to uninstall KB5029331Thanks

Error code 0x8007025d for KB5029331

Can not update KB5029331 due to error 0x8007025d. on Dell XPS 8100 running Windows 10 Pro. Previous updates and recent updates KB4023057 & KB9069688 installed without any problem. Tried some of the on-line hints, to no avail,

 

KB5029331 Windows 10 Cumulative Update Preview Build 19045.3393 (22H2)  

Understand what you mean... But, it installed successfully both time.

I suggest doing the following:

(If you've already done one of these procedures, skip to the next one.)

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

If it persists, rename the software distribution folders as instructed below:

1. Open Start and type cmd, right-click on "Command Prompt", and select "Run as administrator".

2. Run the following commands at the Command Prompt one at a time:

net stop bits

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptsvc

ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak

ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak

net start bits

net start wuauserv

net start cryptsvc

3. After all these commands are completed, close the Command Prompt window, restart your computer, and then try to update Windows.

If it persists, use the system file checker to repair possible corrupted or missing system files.

1. Open Start and type cmd, right-click on "Command Prompt", and select "Run as administrator".

2. Run the following commands at the Command Prompt one at a time:

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

sfc /scannow

Note: Pay close attention to the results of the commands. This will help you determine whether the procedure was completed successfully or if there was a problem. If you encounter any problems, let me know the error message that was displayed.

3. Then restart your PC and see if you can update.

If it persists, download and install the update that is having problems manually.
