Windows 10: KB5031356 breaks network for Hyper-V Win10 VMs on Server 2012

I am running a 2012 server. Hyper-V server with multiple Win10 Pro VMs. All was well until KB5031356 . This update breaks the network. TCP/IP doesn't work for the VMs. I can only access the VMs using VMC, and those VMs can't do anything without network access.Can't see network. PING reports "transmit failure".I tried creating a new virtual switch. No joy.I have some similar VMs running under a Win 10 Pro desktop and those aren't affected and they have this update installed.I have install all the current updates on the 2012 server. No joy.The only thing that gets them connected again is

Hyper-V VM server licensing

Hello,

We have a VM running a 2012 R2 OS and are having an issue applying the license we have purchased.

I was advised that a 2019 standard license would work for licensing a 2012 server and this is not working when typing in the key to the VM.

Can anyone point out what could be the issue, maybe I'm supposed to type the key into the Hyper-V host?

 

Hyper-V Networking Win Server 2016 on HP DL360 gen 10

Hi,

I'm performing initial testing with Hyper-V on an Hp DL360 gen 10 server. The first ethernet port is in use by the main Win 2016 OS installed on the server. I'd like to use one of the 3 available ethernet ports to act as the network/internet connect for
the Hyper-V Virtual Machine. It will sit on the same VLAN as the main server connection and the Ip address in Hyper-V will be a static IP address.

I've been walking through the Hyper V instructions to set up a virtual switch using the selected port, but havent' been successful in setting the network in the VM as desired. In Virtual switch manager, i created a new swtich and de-selected the option
for "Allow management operating system to share the network adapter. However, I've been unable to get a network connection in the VM.

Any suggestions?

VSS problems backing up windows 2012 R2 server VM in hyper-v server

I have a single Hyper-V 2012 R2 server host with 2 VMs running windows 2012 R2 server with the latest updates.

The VMs are backed up using Altaro VMBACKUP which runs on the host.

The first VM is a DC which is backed up successfully.

The second VM OS is Windows 2012 R2 with Exchange Server 2013 onpremise.

This VM has been backing up for years without any problem and since 2 months ago the backup has been failing.

The Altaro VMBACKUP shows the following error:

There was a problem while rolling back the latest failed backup for this VM to the last consistent state. (Error code 'ROLLBACK_306')
The rollback will be attempted again automatically before any subsequent backups or restores on this VM until it is successful, so the health of the backup data should not be affected.
