Windows 10: KB5034123 is impossible

I can't get this latest update to install even from the manual download and the safe mode. I've been using MS OS before Windows was launched, and every Win version since. Some things seem never to change. I don't want to iterate all the fixes I've tried but I can assure you I have. I don't code anymore - not take I could fix it - but I would probably class myself as an occasional power user. It stalls at 70%

your friend is asking for the impossible hookey, agility has a decent and valid point - if your friend doesnt like whats suggested here, either he changes the hardware, or he makes his own case. There really isnt many other options.

 

Update from 19041.985 impossible, keeps rolling back

Hi, I'm trying to help out my mom here with her little Acer Aspire. I usually don't have to make a lot of maintenance but lately she's been bugged by Windows categorically refusing to apply the update. Present version is 2004 (build 19041.985) and everything I've tried returns the same result: update impossible, roll back at reboot. So far, I have:

• used the Windows Updates Trouble-shooter
• reset Windows Update related services
• run SFC
• run DISM
• deleted the Software Distribution Folder
• downloaded and installed updates manually from Windows Update Catalog

Short of a suggestion from you guys, my next move is to smash this computer to bits with a sledgehammer. Which isn't a viable option. So, any advice welcome. *Smile

 

Unable to set default browser

• Does this issue happens while you try to set other browser as default too or is it specific to specific browser?

Any browser.

Already did the steps you suggested. It's some kind of bug where it's impossible to set a default browser at all.

I heard elsewhere from one other user that it seems to be a problem with upgrading to 10 on the SP3. Sounds very specifc.
