Windows 10: KB5034441 update fails even after resizing the partition.

Hi everyone, There's been a lot of fuzz about this WinRE update and I've seen many people getting it fixed by either using the PS script MS has provided, or by manually using diskpart to resize their partition. I've tried many size between 500 and 1500 MB for my Recovery partition, but the update always fails. I also tried to temporarily disable BitLocker, used SFC /scannow and the DISM checks but everything was ok.Event Viewer shows this error with event ID 20: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error&nbs

Manually resize partition for KB5034441 not increasing recovery partition

After encountering the KB5034441 update error I decided to use the following support article to increase the size of my windows recovery partition:

KB5028997: Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update

I have followed the steps as described however my Recovery partition does not get any larger.

I have:

• disabled WinRE (not seen in the screenshot)
  
• Shrunk the C drive partition (not seen in the screenshot but you can see the 250MB free space on the disk) in the first list disk call
  
• deleted the previous Recovery partiton with 506MB
  
• Created a new Recovery partition with attributes and formatted it
  

But having completed all the steps my Recovery partition is still 506MB and the free space hasn't been reallocated so the update continues to fail.

I saw in a (timestamp 4:11) that if the C drive partition is not next to the Recovery partition then there are extra things that need to be done but I do not understand them.

Can someone help guide me through?

PS I don't actually know what the purpose of partition 3 is. In disk management it is called EFI System Partition so I assume it is necessary and I have worked around it.

- it will also fail if the Recovery partition is not immediately after the Windows partition (or so I've read...). Success! after a bit of partition resizing (I'd been meaning to to a little tidying up sometime) - and a groan when I got 'The Windows RE image was not found' - which resolved itself after another restart.. KB5034441 succeeded.
