    Tried to install KB5036980 today - update preview through both WU and then catalog as WU didn't work any other suggestions how to get the update to install?

    Hi Paul,

    The easiest way to get KB3177467 is to run Windows Update, then hide all the updates that appear (write them down if you so choose). Run WU again, the correct patch should appear. Install it and reboot. Then go back to WU and unhide the earlier updates and
    install the updates you need.

    And yet again, MS hasn't explained very well step by step how get this update for non catalog users!

    Because you install the Monthly Rollups it's best to leave the patching up to WU and not the catalog but just so you know, the one you would've chosen is 2018-10 Update for Windows 7 for x64 Systems dated 10/8/2018.
