Windows 10: KB5051987 2025-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 = Won't Install!..

Damn, I'm starting to hate Windows Update... After WU messed up my Win 10 install, I started with a clean Win 11 install.. And now this again...I'm getting this error: 2025-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems KB5051987Install error - 0x800f081fI had another update that messed up my Win 11 pc, a week ago, and I restore from backup to the previous day, which fixed it, and I immediately paused Windows Update for a week. Then yesterday, I turned it back on and it installed 4 updates, but this one keeps failing!My CBS.log

2018-02 Cumulative Updates not installing

Windows keeps trying to download and install 2018-02 Cumulative Update and 2018-01 Cumulative Update.

It downloads the update and then fails when trying to install. Then it downloads it again over and over.

On the update history page it shows two updates failing to install.

2018-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64 base systems (KB4074588) (30)

Last failed install attempt 2/19/2018 - 0x8024200d

2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64 base systems (KB4056892) (268)

Last failed install attempt 2/14/2018 - 80240034

My current Windows version is 16299.64

Any suggestions on getting it to install or at least to stop downloading the updates all the time. With Windows always downloading the same update over and over it seems to take priority on my internet connection and slows my browser and everything else
down.

Maybe try with the Windows update mini-tool, found here http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...dows-10-automatic-updates-and-spyware.218745/ , thanks to Mussels. it installed perfectly for me last night.

 

how to fix 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5023706)

Why would an in-place Upgrade solve this problem? I did all the steps listed here but not the in-place update. The error I see in the Windows update window is "Download error - 0x8024401c" for 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5023706). Its been logging this error since 3/17/2023

Note that on 2/15 everything seemed fine:

2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022845)

Successfully Installed on 2/15/2023

2023-02 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5022497)

Successfully Installed on 2/15/2023
