Windows 10: Keep getting "error insufficient space" on Robocopy when we try to back up hardrive

My mom's computer crashed and her OS disappeared, so we're trying to get her files copied through DOS Robocopy. But we keep getting a warning for insufficient space. This makes no sense as her computer drive only has 500 gigs on it and the external we're using has an available 1.18 Tb. We've tried the quota thing, which did not work or maybe we didn't do it right. We've tried COPYALL, which almost worked. It showed it downloaded some files but not others but those files were not put on the hardrive. Any help?

Windows 10 Backup Hardrive Disk Space Management

Hello, some advise and guidance is requested please...

My PC is operating with Windows 10, originally when purchased it came with Windows 7 that was then updated to Windows 8.1 which was a nightmare but was significantly improved and stabilised with Windows 10; however, where previously I could backup my system
to an external hardrive without any issues. I cannot now make backups. The PC is recognising my external backup hardrive (Samsung 1.82 TB) and will try to 'write to it' when required but it doesn't "manage the space" as it is set to do, i.e. it keeps telling
me that the drive has insufficient space available and is now indicating that there is only 3.57MB free!

Why is it not 'managing the space' as selected? How do I fix this problem?

Robocopy with /MIR fails with Recycle Bin error message

Roohi, I ran into insufficient memory issues while attempting to use Xcopy.

I therefore went back and tried Robocopy without the /MIR parameter.

I ran Robocopy with the /e /s /r:5 parameters and all worked fine.

The only issue I ran across was when I tried to copy a folder name that had a space within its name, like (e.g., Software Installs). After I put the full path name within double quote (e.g., "D:\Software Installs"), it worked fine.
