Windows 10: Keep getting Windows update error message 'Install error - 0x80070103'

Trying to update - intelliGo - Extension - 100.1.4.1375.This is the sequence - Retry, Downloading, Installing 0%, Retry.It takes about one second from Retry to Retry.

I have a pending update from HP in Windows Update, however it shows an error message for this update constantly. The error message is:

I have tried all the troubleshooting options such as clean boot, etc. and I have tried the Windows Update Troubleshooter with no luck.

I am running Windows 10 Build 10130.

I'm not sure ther'e much you can do since it's Win10. In previous versions you could hide that update. but Win10 you can't. The error code indicates that either the software being offered is backlevel to what's alreadu installed or ... a co-instlaller already installed what was needed ... this 'second' driver throws the error code.
These will help explain it, but won't help fix it.

You could try installing the driver from HP: search results (sorry, all I had to go on was 5520 series - hey ... that was an old IBM device *Wink )

Pick the 8.1 version if available and the same bit depth as your OS (x86 /amd64 - 32-bit/ 64-bit)

You might have to uninstall the driver already on the machine, then physically disconnect the printer
Devices prefer to have the software installed before being connected ... many installers prompt you when to connect the device.

 

Install error - 0x80070103

Windows Update keeps listing an available update, but when I run Update, I get an error: Intel - Net - 12.18.9.20 Install error - 0x80070103

I run the Windows Update troubleshooter (the one in Windows, not the download mentioned in so many articles with the broken link), and it finds a problem, and says it fixed it, but the problem persists. I attached an image of the issues below.

I have tried

• uninstalling the Intel adapters in Device Manager
  
• the process of renaming catroot2 and SoftwareDistribution as in this post
  
• ran system file checker, it found and fixed corrupted files
  

Nothing has worked.
