Windows 10: keeping windows product key

Hello, I have a windows 11 laptop, which I would like to reinstall to linux, but I would like to keep the windows key for a future install if one may be. I have used ShowKeyPlus and recovered an OEM Key which looks like this: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX I have actual numbers and letters, just not want to show them hereIf I install linux on this laptop, and then use this key on another laptop, will it work?thank you for your answers

I suggest you to skip the activation step and install Windows 10. After the installation is complete, you can activate the copy of Windows via phone by following the steps provided below:

• Press “Windows key + R”, type “slui 4” and press Enter.
• Select the Region from the list and click Next.
• Call the Toll-Free number provided on top and can activate via phone.

Convert a Windows 8pro product key to a Windows 10pro produkt key

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.
