Windows 10: Keyboard and Mouse stop working intermittently -- Going Bonkers Trying To Fix It

Can anyone help me too with this issue:



I have an old Dell Tower - not sure how old it is but its works just fine and has Windows 10 and SSD installed - to me it does what it needs to do but this darn mouse and keyboard stuff stopping working with no rhyme or reason is making me very frustrated.



I cannot easily unplug and plug in the mouse/keyboard to get it going again... they are still lit up but they are dead basically and I have to do a hard reset.



USB selective suspend is disabled.



I checked the drivers for the keyboard and mouse and they are updated.



I checked to see if PC has KB4074588 and it does not.





I am not sure what else to do.... I can go days without the issue and then days where anytime I step away from the PC it stops working.



I can say when it is working it just does not just stop ... only when I walk away and the machine is idle or the screen is locked.



Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mouse left button stops working intermittently

I have seen several posts with similar problems, but none of them provide any useful answers. Basically, my left mouse button stops working intermittently. I can "fix" it by double clicking the scroll button, but it soon returns. This is the third mouse
I tried so please do not suggest trying a different mouse or driver. I am using Windows 10.

 

Surface book keyboard intermittently stops working

My surface book keyboard intermittently stops working. I have tried updating and rebooting, cleaning the connectors, charging up the battery, and nothing seems to fix the issue. The only button that
always works is the button that allows me to disconnect the surface from the keyboard. When I reconnect it the keyboard usually works again but will eventually give out once more. I've also found if I click the mouse repeatedly the keyboard will once again
work for a short period . Any idea how to fix this problem??

• Are you using a wired or wireless keyboard and mouse?
• Have you tried using a different keyboard and mouse? If yes, how was it?
• Have you tried using your keyboard and mouse to another computer? If yes, what is the result?
• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
